Culloden

I am no historian, but I don't think it's correct to characterise the Battle of Culloden as England against Scotland. The opposing forces were the Jacobite rebels on one side (mainly Scottish, but with some Irish and English recruits and even some French professionals) and the Government forces on the other. The Government forces (commanded by William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland) were supporting the Hanoverian claim to the throne against that of the Stuarts. Wikipedia actually states that "the Jacobite forces ... were decisively defeated by Hanoverian forces."

Wikipedia goes on to state that "Of the [Government] army's 16 infantry battalions present, four were Scottish units and one was Irish".
